Melanie’s report about the botanic gardens

  • One interesting fact that you learned.

(Science) a plant is a producer ( Geography) GEO stands for earth and GRAPHY stands for maps

One thing that you enjoyed about the excursion.

I enjoyed Having Mrs Nicoletti to help our class

  • Give an definition of the words: habitat, producer, consumer and decomposer.

Habitat means where a certain thing lives.  Producer means that you produce your own food from your own energy .  Consumer means that you  eat animals and plants.  Decomposer means it that feeds on and breaks down dead plant or animal matter.

Name a few habitats from around the World .

Leaves litter, Garden, Forest

Thinking about Genius Hour week 1 term 3

What did I do today? I started my stop motion and figured out how to use the program

What did I learn? I learnt how to use movie maker’s speed so it looks like stop motion

Some questions I have: can I bring Lego here? can I take the photos at home?

Some things I need to consider or improve : Working independently

Some things I did well:  I finished my planning and finished my story strip

Tools or programs I used: Movie maker to find out how to put the pictures in, Microsoft word to do my planning and story strip, YouTube to watch tutorials how to use movie maker and the internet to find out how to change the speed to make it look like it’s real

What is my next step for next week ?  to work out how to put my voice in it and taking all the photos

Fractions

Why I chose these creatures? I chose these creatures because these are my favourite living under the sea.

Why I chose these colours? I chose these colours because I want them to be unique and to stand out from the background colour.

What are the methods I used to divide the circle?  I got a big or small circle then folded it as many time as I needed then I cut them from the lines

My inspiration? my inspiration for my fish are from fish I have seen on TV or on the internet.  My inspiration for my shark is from pacman I had the shape of pacman the added fins and teeth. My inspiration for my crab is when I see crabs I always see them with their claws up.  My inspiration for my starfish is when I go to the beach I always find a starfish on the shore I put the wavy lines on it because I see them moving and I want it to look like its moving.  My inspiration for my jellyfish is from when I see them in movies and the had short sharp tentacles.

Understanding square numbers with Melanie

WIN_20160609_11_30_45_ProThis morning in class we learnt about arrays and square numbers with Mr C.  What I learnt about arrays was when you multiply it makes it easier to do it with arrays.  Say if you have a sum 4✖5 then you do four rows of five.  Or if you had the turnaround sum 5✖4 then you do five rows of four.  What I found really cool about square numbers is that to make a square number it has to be doubled by the same number.  Say you have 9✖9 that is a square number so then you use your arrays and do nine rows nine and that equals to 81
