  1. Hi MrC
This number has came from the ones place. It means that it’s a ten. It belongs there because it’s a ten.
    Cheers.

  2. The number 1 came from the 88. It means that you just have to add one from the 88. because it went over ten.

  3. I think this number has come from the ones because the ones column can not have two numbers. It means it is the ten from the number that was originally seventeen. It was moved to the tens. It belongs there because that is the tens column.

  4. Hey Mr C,
I’ve Been thinking I Know what the number one is. So eight times nine is seventeen so you have to put ten on to the tens row and then you have nine plus one.

  5. The number on top of the eight is there because they is no room for it and in addition you can’t put two numbers in the ones group. You have to put it at the top of a number.

  6. Ones place.
Because 8×9=17 it’s more than ten ones.
Because the 1 really is a 10 so that’s why the 1 is in the tens place.

  7. Hi Mr C Bill here, the number one that is above the tens column used to be part of the ones column but has change because the number has gone into the tens and as a result you can only put one number in each column. This means that the number 1 is now part of the tens and you add that to the numbers you already have in this case 8 and 1. It belongs in this spot exactly because it is a ten now and you can’t put it in the ones.

  8. I think the number came from the tens and placed it into the
    ones.
you put it in the ones and it would be nine plus one.
it belongs there because it would be nine plus nine and you would have to regroup.

  9. The number one has come from the one’s space. It mean’s that there were two numbers that mine plus eight equalled seventeen so the one would Bo up into the tens space and the seven would still stay in the one’s space. It belonged in the ten’s space because if it went in the once space it would make a bigger number.

  10. Hi Mr C Tom hear I rely like your post first I didn’t rely no
my regrouping a lot. but your post tort me. thank you.

  11. So you start at the 8. 8 +9=1I put the one in the ones place but the one that I have from the 17 goes in the tens place. why the one goes in the tens place is because you can’t do two number in one place and that it is a grown up and goes in the tens place .So that’s why they made tens, this one ten will only make one difference to the number .I plus 1+1=2 so 8+2=10.

  12. Hi Mr c
I have figured out why the one is on top of the eight
    here is why⤵
the one is on top of the eight because it represents a ten from the ones Kollam.

  13. Hi Mr C,
I think the highlighted 1 has come from the 7 because the number was really 17 and you had to split the number up because if you did not the number would be 1017. I think the number 1 has come from the 7 down in the ones coelom. I think the one that is highlighted belongs to the 7 that is in the ones coelom but they could not put it in the tens coelom always it would be 1017.

  14. The number one is there because the 8+9= 17 so the seven goes on the ones because it is a one. and the one goes in the tens because it is a ten. It belongs there because it is a ten because you have added the seven ones to make 17. It means that the 1 from the 17 is all grown up and is going to be added up in the tens coluom with the other number 1 8 and.

  15. The 1 is up above the ten’s coelom because if you add 8 and 9 you will get 17 and we know that if we put 17 in the one’s place it wouldn’t make any sense. So we have to only put the 1 above the 8.

  16. Hay Mr C
I think that the one came from the eight and the nine because, when you add eight and nine it makes 17 so that is one ten and seven ones. The answer to your second question is that the one means one ten that is why it has moved to the second coelom witch is the tens coelom and your theird answer is Because it has gone over nine so it is now ten.

  17. Where has this number come from?: It has come from the number 17. Why does it belong there ?: Because when it came from the number 17 it is one ten in that number so it is put in the ten column. What does it mean?: It means that it regrouped one ten to its correct column.

  18. Hi Mr.C,
I was reading your post and here is what I think, Well the number came from the ones when you add the eight and the nine because eight and nine makes seventeen. It means the number one is a ten, one ten but before it was a one but now it is a ten and it has new home now that stands for it mean it is a big ten. I think I have answered the third question in the second question.

  19. The Regrouping Strategy is will easily be figured out by these simple steps
    Number .1 Add it up
    Number .2 carry it
    Number .3 Write it down
Now it isn’t that easy I’ll explain 8+9=17 But there can only be ONE NUMBER! So what do we do Ah! Good Question Look at the ones place it’s a 7 right so type it in 7 the first number ok carry on oh and actually Do CARRY it on because what about the 10! W should probably put a 1 at the top of the next part of it, 8+1=9! Add one more and it equals 10! Guys and Girls its a 10! DUN DUN DUN No not DUN DUN DUN just put it in thats right just put it in its fine 107 THATS THE ANSWER ok enough of the Capitols now 107 isthe answer Bye! 🙂

  20. I think this sum has regrouping and we use regrouping in this sum because we can not have 2 digits in 1 column so we either break it up or use regrouping, or it is because we can not add more because we do not have enough in it on its own to add it to the column we have the one and it stands for ten and it means that we add a ten to our number. By Isabella.4m.16

  21. Hi Mr C
the one means one more and the one came from the ones kollam and it means that you add the 88 and you add one more ten.

  22. Addition With Regrouping

The 1 on the top of this sum has come from the ones coelom.
When we add 8 & 1 together the answer is 17 but you can’t two digits in the same coelom. That means you have to add 8 & 1 together.

  23. Hi Mr C hmm I wonder where this number one has come from oh I will tell you. Firstly lets look at the sum 88+19 so simple right 8+9=17 but 17 is too much now we use the 7 as our answer an we add the 1 to 8 +1 but because the 1 was added to 8+1 so now it is 8+2 the answer to that is ten so the answer 107 finally were done but that’s what you think back to the reason we added the one at the top of 8+1 you add the one because 17 has a 2 digit number it has to be a one digit number.

  24. the one is in the tens place so it belongs to the tens.
when you add all the numbers you also add them all together. you also add the 1because you add the 1 over the 88 Lyndon 4m
